Global and local coordinate system

The measuring area is included in a local coordinate system, which is located in a global coordinate system. The relation between the both coordinate systems is saved in the ghk header. In the window of Pundit Vision by clicking on Select Module -> edit header (binary import) the window for the header editing opens. A ghk header can be read in by File -> Import from ghk header and the selection of the corresponding ghk file. Now the coordinates of the header can be edited. The next figure shows the window of the header editor.

In the section Local Coordinates the local coordinate setup is displayed:

  • Type: You can choose between different units, e.g. set Space for a spatial reconstruction. According to this, the coordinates can be named under Abbrev., where x, y and z is standard. The meaning accords to the dimension, which is set in the file after another.

  • Dimension: Entry of the amount of data points per dimension in the file.

  • Start Coord.: Starting coordinate for every dimension of the file.

  • By clicking on Extended, a further section opens for setting up global coordinates:

  • Global Position: Global shift of the starting coordinate of the local coordinate system.

  • Orient. Vector: Here, the orientation of the measuring area can be adjusted. The orientation vector sets the direction of the local coordinate systems’ x-axis in the global system. The coordinate system stays right handed, after all, which means the order x-y-z as right handed fingers.

  • Rotation: By setting the rotation angle the data will be rotated around the x-axis with the corresponding angle. This rotation is not considered at collect_measurement and should be 0 degree. It will be considered in the module for 3D visualization.
