Proceq Launches North American Customer Conference to Advance NDT Innovation

Florida — April, 2026 — Proceq Day North America 2026 recently debuted as the company’s first-ever regional customer conference with GPR tagging competition, keynote speakers, and panel discussions, assembling industry leaders in subsurface investigation and concrete scanning for a specialized, hands-on technical summit. The event, spearheaded by Chris Moody, Vice President of Sales at Proceq USA, was designed to pivot away from traditional lecture-style presentations. Instead, the event provided a collaborative environment where attendees engaged directly with emerging technology and exchanged field insights regarding the future of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for concrete inspection and subsurface mapping.

The event took place at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront, a standout venue located in the heart of downtown Jacksonville, Florida. Overlooking the St. Johns River, the hotel provided a striking backdrop, with views across the city’s well-known bridges - including the iconic Main Street Bridge - creating a setting that was both professional and distinctly local.

Real-World Data, Captured Live

In the days leading up to the event, the Proceq team arrived early on site to carry out live scanning of several of Jacksonville’s bridges using the GM8000 mobile mapping system, alongside other Proceq equipment. The data collected during these scans was processed and brought directly into the conference, enabling attendees to see, within the same week, how quickly high-quality data can be captured, analyzed, and interpreted. This gave attendees a clear, practical understanding of the speed of deployment, data clarity, workflow efficiency and real-world application at scale using the GM8000.

Day 1 - Welcome Reception & Keynote

The conference officially began on the evening of April 9 with a welcome reception, bringing attendees together in a relaxed but professional setting. The evening was anchored by a keynote from Dr. Christopher C. Ferraro of the University of Florida. Dr. Ferraro is a recognised authority in non-destructive testing of concrete infrastructure, with extensive involvement in ACI committees and a strong body of research spanning durability, thermal behaviour, and sustainable materials. His keynote focused on:

  • The evolving role of non-destructive testing in infrastructure
  • The importance of reliable data in decision-making
  • The future of concrete assessment and durability

His perspective set a strong technical foundation for the event - bridging academic research with real-world application. Following the keynote, the evening continued with open-bar drinks and networking on the balcony, where attendees connected while overlooking the St. Johns River and the illuminated bridges of downtown Jacksonville.

Day 2 - Conference & Panel Discussion

The main conference day brought together presentations, demonstrations, contests, and interactive sessions, with a strong emphasis on practical insight and open discussion. A central highlight was the roundtable panel discussion, hosted by Chris Moody, and featuring industry experts including:

  • Jamie Althauser – GPRS
  • Jeff Cohen – BDI
  • Rory Foley – Cobra Concrete / GPR USA
  • Shannon Deese – Florida DOT

The discussion covered a wide range of topics, including real-world application challenges like PT duct inspection, adoption of new technologies like artificial intelligence, data reliability and interpretation, industry trends, and future direction. This session proved to be one of the most valuable parts of the event with powerful questions and intriguing debates among the panelists and the audience. The roundtable was followed by a lively and highly engaged Q&A, where attendees, panelists, and Proceq experts exchanged ideas openly.

GPR Scanning Competition

The GPR Scanning Competition was a primary highlight of Proceq Day North America 2026. The event challenged more than 20 participants to accurately identify and mark all of the embedded objects within a set time limit using Proceq GPRs The competition focused on both speed and precision in a controlled field environment. With only a small number of participants completing the challenge within the allotted time, the event highlighted the technical skill required for high-pressure scanning. The winners are:

  • Concrete Scanning: Jamie Althauser (GPRS)
  • Subsurface Scanning: Reid Davis (Concrete GPR)

The competition provided an opportunity for professionals to engage with new technology through practical application. We appreciate everyone who participated and contributed to the event's success.

The event set a strong foundation for what will become a key annual gathering for the industry. Watch the full recap on YouTube.

Plans are already underway for 2027 - with a clear goal to build on this momentum and raise the standard even further.
