In this video we are going to see how to apply gain to our data. In GPR Insights, we have different ways that you can gain your data. Go to the process tab in the right panel and under processing click on the plus symbol. Here you will see two options of gain. The first is the auto gain and the second one is the tgc gain. The autogain calculates an automatic gain curve to amplify our data. From here, you can select how to calculate this gain curve and click on the apply button. To visualize the gained data click on the autogain filter from the list at the bottom of a B-scan. Now our GPR responses are much more visible. Now let’s go back and remove the autogain filter and apply the tgc gain. The tgc gain is a combination of a linear gain and a time gain compensation. From here you can adjust the two sliders and then hit the apply button. To visualize the tgc gain again we have to select it from the list at the bottom of a B-scan. These two gains are applied as filters and are saved in the data. However, in GPR Insights we also have the live gain which basically is a tgc gain which when applied is not saved to the data but is used only for visualization purposes.
