What does a B-Scan mean?

A 2D view of ultrasound data shows a scanning range as one axis and an ultrasound direction as the other axis. The position of the data displayed is related to the location of the encoder at the time of acquisition. If the ultrasound direction is chosen in detail and the refracted angle is used, the B scan refers to the side view or the cross-section of the portion over the scan line.
